You Be the Girl
by Deirdre Dore

Busted Cherry
by Robert Bohm

Blast that karaoke blood song
shroud the crocuses,
rustle up dead lilacs

to fax to your lover’s mother
while you bleed on the Long Island
Railroad, all the way to Jamaica,
nextstopdon’task.

I say, I’ll rub your neck while we watch
two bantam weights
beat the shit out of each other.

Listening? It’s a bright hole.
This time you be the girl.

Born & raised in NY, educated in Boston, Deirdre called on a flurry of places, from Berkeley to Marrakesh before she finally landed in BC. She lives there still, near a forest, by a river with her family & critters & continues her practice of writing.
