Although serving a life sentence as a
Creative Director in the
entertainment/publishing industry, I'm
actually a subversive, leftist, mail-order
reverend raised in the woods and descended
from ex-soldiers, bikers, blue-collared
entrepreneurs and casual criminals.
Amazingly, that is actually true.
I came relatively late to photography,
having studied traditional illustration in
school and worked most of my life in more of
an art directorial or management capacity.
I'd like to think that means that I'm
approaching my photographs with a fresh
perspective that isn't merely an extension
of previous work I've done. Maybe not.
Honestly, I
don't really like to talk about my art. It
makes me uneasy and I feel pretentious. It
took me a long time to get Didi the
information for this article. I don't spend
a lot of time considering it as art and
instead try and let the images resolve
themselves. If it's good then it'll come
out. Perhaps even that's a bit too Zen a
description.
What it boils
down to is that I don't know if what I'm
doing is truly unique, truly interesting or
truly a bunch of crap. I'll probably never
know. That's probably not for me to decide
anyhow. Some things are just meant for
others to figure out.
