The tetra sleeps at the bottom of the bowl.
Outside past the gate of crickets

Some vague traffic or is it arterial
Surf. Or the air of the computer.

I look at a pair of Jenni’s 7-inch heels:
Thuddings and waddings at the toe

Of the shoe, where all the weight
Compressed. Because we want our girls

Barely touching the earth.
