ELENA GEORGIOU

Elena Georgiou’s first book of poetry, mercy mercy me won a Lambda Literary Award for poetry and was a finalist in the Publishing Triangle Award. She also co-edited (with Michael Lassell) the poetry anthology, The World In Us. She has received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Virginia Center for the Creative Arts fellowship, and the Astraea Emerging Writers Award. Her book mercy mercy me was reissued by the University of Wisconsin Press in the spring of 2003. She teaches poetry in the MFA program in writing at Goddard College, Vermont and at Hunter College of the City University of New York. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
