Love as worker bee, lanky drone
all a buzz down the spine, the memo
of the immediate hovering:
I could classify it according to taste or energy
or small blitz of realization
that stings & knows the weight
of pooling honey –
I could rue.
I could foster decapitation.
I could denounce the fickle queen.
I could pick up the proactive spoon,
dig in.
I could stick. |

I like what Margaret Atwood said
many years ago when asked: Why do you write? Her answer: Why
doesn't everybody? Yes, that is what it feels like - natural as
drawing breath, & everyone knows how difficult that can get at
times, at the very very least metaphorically.
