Stupidity
thickens in a crowd, they say,
And yours is the consistency
Of tapioca mixed with crazy glue, the cold
Epoxy in which history will mount you.

Rachel was born in Washington, D.C., where she saw Richard
Nixon in the halls of the Capitol. She's the author of
Hotel Imperium (Georgia), winner of the Contemporary
Poetry Series Competition. Loden has also published four
chapbooks, including The Richard Nixon Snow Globe
(just out from Wild
Honey Press). Her poems appear in The Best American
Poetry 2005, The Pushcart Prize XXVI, The Iowa
Review, and Jacket, the latter two also
publishing interviews. She lives in Palo Alto,
California, and has a
